My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his
correction: For whom the Lord loves he correcteth; even as a father the
son in whom he delighteth.
He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chasteneth him
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall
drive it far from him.
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he
shall not die. Thou shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto
In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own
sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
And thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children, and shall talk of them
when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept
must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here
a little, and there a little:
And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace
of thy children.
